To get the feel for how large you want a print, try making out the size on your wall with painter’s tape or newspaper. This way, you can see exactly how the print will look.

When hanging a photo print above furniture, a good rule is to have the print 60-75% of the furniture’s width. So, if your sofa is around 80″ / 200cm wide, look for a print that’s about 46-60″ / 120-150cm wide. Pick a size that looks good to you and fits your space.

The farther back you’ll be standing, the larger the print should be, so you can actually see the details of the photograph also from far.

If you’ve got a long wall, think about doing multiple of smaller photo prints in a gallery style. Or, you could just go with one extra large or ultra-wide panoramic photography print for your wall.

For wide walls, opt for wide pictures such as landscapes or wildlife, in a panoramic horizontal prints format. If your wall is taller than it is wide, portrait-style photos, vertical prints, are the way to go. And square photo prints? They’re great for square walls or when you’re making a photo arrangement, a gallery wall.
